After just over a year of construction, our client SINN Power has inaugurated its first vertically floating photovoltaic system at the Jais gravel pit in Bavaria.
Unlike traditional floating PV, this innovative setup uses vertically mounted modules in an east-west orientation, separated by open water corridors — minimizing surface coverage while maximizing efficiency.
With a capacity of 1.87 MW and an expected annual yield of 2 GWh, the system covers only 4.65% of the lake surface, well below regulatory limits. It’s designed to be storm-resistant, eco-friendly, and even creates new habitats for wildlife.
For this groundbreaking project, KBE Floating Solar Cables were used to ensure safe and efficient power transmission via a floating cable system.
The inauguration was attended by key political and industry leaders, including:
Congratulations to Sinn Power on this pioneering achievement — and thank you for nominating KBE Elektrotechnik GmbH to be part of it. We're proud to have contributed to this innovative Project.
